Why Expert Italian was founded

Before we became a ‘team’ and were only friends, we realized that the teaching of Italian in London was either delivered by ‘non-native’ teachers (although qualified) or by native ‘non-teachers’. This ,in their eyes, watered down the quality of the provision and limited the choice from the learner’s point of view..

Therefore we decided to found ‘Expert Italian’, a company that delivers quality services in the private education sector, run with a deep understanding of the teaching of Italian as a Foreign Language.

Both company Directors are native Italians, and I am the senior teacher. My experience ranges from teaching children to business people from beginners to advanced learners. I have been teaching in Italy and in London for about 40 years and I put all my experience and dedication into the company and the students.

At times we employ extra teachers and all go through a serious vetting process that includes lesson observations, evidence of previous teaching experience and references.

Most of the time, we design our own resources, for example when we teach students for GCSE and A level Italian, but we also use ‘monolingual’ course books and resources when we teach children. With ‘monolingual’ we mean that the resources are only in Italian and have been written and produced by native Italian teachers and published by well-known Italian publishing companies. All the resources are easily available in the UK.
